I have found available subtitles for the film "The Planet Of Storms" (not here at IA but on a free subtitles download site). They are provided as an srt file and, having the same title as the movie file, VLC recognizes them so that they are shown automatically from the beginning of the film . But they are terribly out of sync, sometimes they seem to be ahead of the pictures, but mostly at least 2 or 3 minutes behind them. Is there anything I can do about that?

I've made minor corrections to SRT subtitle files to fix spelling and syncing. Syncing is fixed by changing the start and/or end time for a particular subtitle. Open the SRT file for Planeta Bur in your favorite text editor. You'll see this:

200
00:21:08,202 --> 00:21:10,356
...and some sort of protuberance here...

201
00:21:14,215 --> 00:21:15,591
I¥ll switch on the outside microphones.

202
00:21:42,593 --> 00:21:46,080
Hear that? What can it be?

If subtitle 200 appears too soon, change 00:21:08,202 to, say 00:21:08,250. If subtitle 202 appears late, change 00:21:42,593 to, say 00:21:42,570. If the subtitle is on the screen too long, lower the second number.

It's all trial and error. You'll be editing this file repeatedly. From what you've said it's going to be a real pain, too. Good luck!

Thank you so much! It seems as if I have to do a lot of work. Well, I will find the time to do it. I very highly appreciate your immediate answer.

I thought "Planet Of Storms" was copyright (GATT). If it IS pd, I have a subtitled copy. I'm still looking for that copy of "I Bury The Living". I'll have it up when i find it.

You're right. Video-Cellar said so here.

Yep, and he was responding to a post I made last year. Thanks for hunting that down. I was sure I asked about that one before. So that means the one that's here shouldn't be, that is, if it's still here. Thanks again, Bill.
